So, congratulations! You’re getting married and now you want to send out w3edding invitations to all your friends and relatives out there, so they come and join you in that important day of your life.
But how do you proceed with the wedding invitations? Do you write them yourself, do you buy pre-written ones, or what? These are a few tips to make sure your invitations will have the maximum effect, and all your friends will be glad to come to your wedding:
1. Be specific: don’t lose yourself in fluff , in tons of meaningless, nice sounding words. Just communicate the fact that you are getting married, that you wish to have them by you in that day, and give details on the place and timing of the ceremony.
2. Be timely: don’t send out the wedding invitations one week before the wedding day. Many people are programming their lives, their vacations and their activities, so you may end up with your guests not being able to cancel their prior arrangements for that day, and you’ll end up with lots of NOs for an answer.
3. Be creative: writing straight to the point does not mean that you don’t have to show some creativity in conceiving the wedding invitations. I give you only one idea: you could send out the invitations like messages inside a bottle, or in a jar - make sure it is a nice, reusable bottle or jar, so your guests will place it in their kitchen, somewhere at sight, being less probable to forget about your wedding day.
What else do you think a wedding invitation should contain?

All elements of your wedding planning are important and critical. And guess what:
wedding invitations can make the difference between a successful wedding and a failed one.. Invitations reflect the couple’s personal style, while also informing your guests of the upcoming event setting the tone and theme of your wedding. For example, if your destination wedding is on a beautiful tropical island you want to set your sights on a beach theme invitation. Your wedding invitations, save the date cards and thank you notes can be as elaborate as you want to the most simple of invitations.
Your invitation specialist can help you decide on the right invitation, keeping with your style and theme, as well as what wording on your invitations is appropriate and looks the best. The invitations should contain the basics such as who is hosting the wedding, date, time, place and the names of the bride and groom.
Begin your quest for the right invitation as soon as you secure a location for the wedding. Invitations take up to three months to design and print so make sure you have about six months to order them. You want your invitations as soon as possible so that you can send them out about 203 months prior to the wedding instead of the usual six to eight weeks, giving your guest enough time to make plans, or to change their current ones, if they want to attend your wedding.
Ask for RSVP’s no later than six weeks before the wedding date. Based on the answers you’ll get, you’ll be able to know approximately how many people you’ll have at the ceremony. Do not send cards out any time before a year. You want to include the date and place as well as hotel and flight information, specific information about the destination such as weather, or dress code, if any.
You can also use e-mailing to send out your invitations. The advantage to this is that it can save you time and money while putting a new and different twist on your announcements. However, email also has drawbacks. You will have to take into consideration that elder guests may not even have computers, or may not know how to use them. So, you’d probably still have to print out several invitations and send them via regular methods.
