Planning a wedding is more difficult than it seems at first sight. You have to consider the weather conditions, the vacations periods, your own availability, and lots of “minor” details which can easily ruin your wedding day.

Have you considered planning your wedding ceremony to take place on New Year’s Eve?

This can be a great idea, but you have to take care of a few factors:

1. Send out your wedding invitations earlier than in normal cases. People like to plan in advance their holidays, so you want to make sure they will be available by that time. The best would probably be to invite them the latest in September.
2. Find a nice location, maybe in a winter resort, where your guests could spend a mini-vacation and celebrate your wedding. You could even rent a whole villa for the event, case in which you could get a good discount, especially if you arrange things in early fall or even earlier.
3. Make sure you’ll have all suppliers available. New Year’s Eve is a busy time for party organizers, so if you leave things for the last moment you may get into trouble. One solution would be to hire a wedding planning or an event organizing agency to handle all aspects for you. Agencies have special deals with lots of suppliers, so they may have priority to several services, making sure you’ll get everything you wanted for your wedding ceremony.
4. Get some good entertainment for your guests. People like to celebrate holidays, and your wedding ceremony will compete with lots of happenings, concerts, events, fireworks, and many other distractions. Fireworks are not very expensive lately, so you could hire some, and you could even order light letters to be written on the sky. Your wedding party will be memorable.
5. Think twice: if most of your guests are the type who want to spand holidays in the family, perhaps having your wedding by New Year’s time may not be such a great idea after all.
